Whittling Blocks Pack #1

Jelutong blocks for whittling and wood carving. Jelutong is a perfect timber for beginners and professionals alike, it has an excellent tight straight grain and cuts with ease, giving a nice well defined clean cut, and it holds fine detail extremely well. It's great for working quickly on once you're a bit more experienced, and it holds up well to a few different finishes. It's a South East Asian species and the closest timber we get to the Northern Hemisphere Basswood which is the whittlers go to timber. Personally I find Jelutong more consistent and easier to work with than the Basswood I've experienced. 

This kit is made up of the below giving a total of 10 pieces:

3 pieces of: 10cm x 5.4cm x 4cm
2 pieces of: 10.7cm x 5.7cm x 3.3cm
5 pieces of: 2.5cm x 2.5cm x 7.5cm

These blocks have not been sanded smooth but as their purpose is for carving once a knife passes over them they will be beautifully smooth, you can also give a light sanding if you prefer them smooth to start with. 

We strive to ensure all measurements are exactly accurate as per the above, however actual dimensions may vary by a few millimetres at most. However this will not compromise their use.

Important note: these are just the blocks pictured and not the cut shapes, we do sell the cut shapes, please check our product page for what we have available. 

The block shapes do no have any outlines of animal shapes marked on them but if you would like this please get in contact at the time of your order and we can easily do this to one side for you prior to dispatch, we don't normally mark both side with an outline.
