Homeschool Whittling Workshop - 1 x booking per participant

This is our Home School Introduction to Whittling workshop. This runs at Saratoga Community Hall on the below dates, from 9:30am to 11:30am.

There is plenty of parking on site, and there are cafes and shops down at the village shops which you drive past on the way to the hall. 

I do supply gloves but my small sizes are limited so I strongly suggest purchasing some prior to the class. I use the Trojan anti cut gloves available from bunnings, they have a grey plastic coating on the palms and its best if you have a pair that definitely fit.

What we cover:

• Gain knowledge of general safety when working with whittling knives
• Learn the basics of wood grain direction and different types of whittling cuts
• Practise working with knives, perfecting finishing cuts and using finishing oil
• Understand safe whittling posture, proper knife care and how to continue your whittling journey

What we will make:

• In this class we will be focusing on either simple animals, or freestyle projects, it's dependant on what your child feels like making at the time and what we can achieve.

Please note:

• This course is open to students 10 and older at this time. As I am just starting teaching younger students I am in the stages of assessing what this age group is capable of.
• Students will need parental or guardian supervision at an ideal ratio of 3 students to 1 parent or elected supervisor.
• Any parents are also welcome to participate in the class if they're interested in learning as well. 
• The instructor has a valid first aid and working with children check.
• Dates for this class require at least 3 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case, we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS in the days leading up to the to the class.

• How the day will run Our class is on for 120 minutes with a break halfway through or whenever anyone feels like it, it's a very unstructured class and I work with everyone based on where they are up to. 
• Students are by all means free to go once their creative energy and interest has run out, there isn't anything that can be missed out on.
